Weekend Wear
It’s Saturday morning and you’re looking forward to your usual weekend routine: throw on your favorite jeans and t-shirt, grab a cup of coffee on the corner and find a sunny spot to read the newpaper.
Here’s the trick: throwing on clothes that say relaxed instead of pulled off the heap on the floor. Admit it, you want to look like you actually care (without looking like you actually care).
We’ve got the easy answer. A tee with a screened print and a prefectly-fitted skinny jean add a touch of style to the most basic look. Grab those shades, throw on your sneakers, and you’re good to go.
These men’s pieces below are arriving in Crossroads stores next week.*
Merchandise is new. Screen t-shirt, $18.00 (Three prints available). BDG skinny jeans, $22.50 (Three washes available).

A Little Luxury
The holidays are my favorite time to indulge in some simple luxuries: a new cocktail ring, a party dress, or a pair of chandelier earrings. These types of items also make great gifts for those who rarely splurge on themselves. With that in mind, I picked out the items below for your consideration. For women, a leopard motif makes these bracelets and earrings fun and flirty. For men, this soft corduroy blazer will make an evening out feel especially refined.
Both will arrive in Crossroads stores next week.*
Earrings, $4.50; Bracelet, $9.50; Blazer by Positano, $38.50.
*Blazer will not be available at our outlet store in Stockton.

Fall is in the Air
It only took one look around the office this morning to realize that fall is really here! Thick, warm sweaters have emerged from their summer storage, and I finally pulled out my burnt orange Scrapbook dress with pockets adorned in fall leaves (a favorite Crossroads find from last year).
Downstairs, the buying team just unpacked some new merchandise that reinforces the change of seasons. The men’s WESC polo is fall-appropriate with its sweater-feel and slate green hue. The women’s butterfly-sleeve dress and sweater dress are also fitting in purple. They’re begging for some tights and pretty pumps or boots.
“Fall” for some of these yourself. All of them are on their way to Crossroads stores this week.*
All merchandise is new and by WESC. Men’s polo, $25.00; Bell dress with pockets, $26.50; Short sleeve sweater dress, $28.50.

I Know What Boys Like
They may fuss a bit about it, but I think boys like to dress nice. Well, maybe as long as there’s no neck tie or sports jacket involved.
RVCA has designed some great men’s pieces that look dressed up without the hassle. An example is this eggplant shirt and charcoal pants that are shipping to Crossroads stores this week.*
So go ahead: make those reservations for dinner downtown and pull out that party dress you’ve been dying to wear out with him.
Merchandise is new and by RVCA. Pants, $42.50; Shirt, $35.00.

Card Me
Q: How do I wear a cardigan without looking like my grandpa?
A: Grandpas are cool, but some grandpa fashion is not (Polyester slacks, anyone?) . However, cardigans are fun fun fun. Even the ones that you might have seen grandpa wear to the dinner table.
Keep the fit snug and wear it over a bright graphic tee. A polo could work to, but avoid a collared dress shirt and that ”reading the newpaper on Sunday circa 1953″ look.
I personally want to surprise my man with the fleece cardigan below, with the selfish intention of stealing it for myself. You must feel how soft the inside of it is: it’s C-O-Z-Y.
Race your Grandpa to Crossroads to get one for yourself (odds are, you’ll probably win, so be nice and give him a head start).
They arrive in stores next week.*
Cardigan by Under A Blood Red Sky, $20. T-shirt by Malchick& Devotchka, $13.50.

A Great Men’s Look
Q: I found a navy blue striped blazer recently for an affordable price. I will be wearing it with my pair of jeans. What kinds of shirts can I wear with it? Can you provide advice on colors, styles and patterns?
A. I love this look for men! Completing this oufit can be as simple as adding a classic white button-up or tee. If you really want to stand out, try a bright colored t-shirt in green or orange. Keep the shirt in a solid color so that you can showcase your new striped blazer.
A solid navy colored shirt will work too. The Heritage shirt below is so versatile that it will complete this look and look great with your summer shorts. I photographed it with two pairs of Burnside plaid shorts as evidence.
Don’t forget to add a signature touch with your shoe selection. I suggest one of the Triple Five Soul pairs below. They’ll provide an urban bent.
All items below are new merchandise and shipping to our stores next week.*
Heritage Shirt, $16.50; Burnside plaid shorts, $22.50; Triple Five Soul Shoes, $40.

Let’s Be Frank
Q: I want to surprise my boyfriend with a new outfit for his birthday. I’m looking for something that’s stylish, but matches his less-than-serious personality. Any suggestions?
A: Silkscreened t-shirts with fun and graphic prints are an easy way to go. Another popular and summer-friendly trend is a lightweight pant in stripes or plaid.
I must admit, I think I’ve found the perfect outfit for him.
Check out these Paul Frank pieces on their way to our stores right now.*
